A brahmin should not hanker after material things and should not maintain an ego. He lives for god and strives for truth by means of philosophy. He maintains utmost purity of his mind and self so that he can conduct rituals at the temple. Such a person is closest to god in every sense. If a person does not follow his life accordingly, then he is not a brahmin. Those who apply for IITs/IIMs to have a materialistic good life are not Brahmins really.
