Selective misquoting of Gita by IH
by Anand Iyer on Jun 16, 2007 05:08 PM

Inadvertently Human ratioanlises birth-based caste system by just pointing out "Chaturvarnya mayashrushta" part(and saying God created birth-based caste and is therefore justified).

The full shloka is "Chaturvarnya mayashrushta guna karma vibhagaso" The last part "guna karma vibhagaso" is very vital. It says that God has created chaturvanya based on qualities and actions (and not by birth). Thus, read in context-the "chaturvarnya" referred to in Gita is four classes based on qualities and actions and not four castes based on birth.

Any society will consist of Intellectual
/priestly class, ruling class, business /
trader/agriculturist class and labour class. There will be free movement of people between these classes based on qualities and deeds.

In verse no.29 of Chapter no.9, it is clearly maentioned by Lord that " I am alike to all beings.None is dear to me or hated by me".

This birth-based caste is Manuistic in Origin and not Gitaistic.
