Sanjay Dutt is a criminal
by Sumer on Aug 11, 2007 01:53 PM

Unlike some of the messages I have seen here that call for his forgiveness, nothing should be above the law of the land and not respecing that is a root cause of the problems in India. It does not matter how long ago a person committed a crime or whether they have become a good person later, they must be held accountable for their crimes no matter how many years have past. This is the basis for the Western Legal establishment and also the basis for prosecuting Nazi war criminals 50 years after their crimes were committed. No one is above the law, and Sanjay had no right to bear illegal arms that had links to people who would destroy India. If tomorrow one of your children became linked to a terrorist group, do you think the law would be relax? Of course not, it would prosecute to the full extent. Sanjay Dutt is guilty and should face the full punishment. If he had any love for his country he would never have rekated himself to such underworld/terrorist types. And if he claims he was seeking protection from the Hindus (which he did claim), then why is he living in India which has Hindus in every corner of the country? And why is he now flashing a huge tilak on his forehead? Perhaps to gain sympathy.

In the West no one is above the law. If India starts upholding the law, especially against politicians, our nation can truly become great. Sanjay Dutt is guilty and needs to be made an example of. No one is above th law.
