You are an Hindu and I am a Muslims or a third is a Christian or Sikh only because he was born in a family that practised their religion.
The prophet (saw) said that all individuals are born with a natural tendency (fitrah) to worship one god. Its their parents who make them a Jew, a Christian, a Sikh or an Hindu.
Sacrifice and Perseverance are two words among the words most mentioned in the Quran!
By (the Token of) Time (through the ages), Verily Man is in loss, Except such as have Faith, and do righteous deeds, and (join together) in the mutual teaching of Truth, and of Patience and Constancy- (Al-Quran 103)
O you who believe, seek assistance through patience and prayer; surely Allah is with the patient..(Al-Quran 2)
O you who believe, be steadfast; be supreme in steadfastness... (Surah Al Imran, 200)
Whoever remains patient, Allah will make him patient. Nobody can be given a blessing better and greater than patience. (Bukhari)
Attaining this secret is extremely easy. Allah manifests His attribute -Al-Sabur (The Patient) on those who believe in Him and helps perfect the determination in their hearts.
The example of a believer is that of a fresh tender plant. From whatever direction the wind comes, it bends it. But when the wind becomes quiet, it becomes straight again. Similarly, a believer is afflicted with calamities (but remains patient until Allah removes the difficulty). (Bukhari)
