Haneef a scapegoat and political prisoner

The latest news (as per Australian media sites) confirms that Haneef is being made a scapegoat. He is just a political prisoner of the Aussie govt in an election year. Aussie media reports a surge in popularity for the ruling coalition on account of 'terrorism'. The govt should drop charges and send Haneef back to India. But the Australian courts appear to be just and his lawyers have also done a thorough job. The Indian govt and the media should also take up the plight of Indians languishing in Saudi jails, as also the plight of political prisoners like Arun Ferreira and Binay Sen who are languishing in prisons right here. India should set its own house in order before pointing fingers at other countries. We have an appalling record in human rights violations. Credit to the media for highlighting such issues - that is the only hope of attaining justice, albeit belatedly.
