HANEEF

1.      The full facts are yet to be out though, from the little available information(news channels need to get more info rather than getting into rhetoric), it doesn%u2019t appear to be a fit case for arrest. Hanif is charged with %u2018Recklessness%u2019 than %u201CIntention%u201D by providing a SIM card. A SIM card is an innocuous item available everywhere and can be possessed by anyone unlike a gun. Pressing charges for giving a SIM card to a cousin(whom he apparently believes is no terrorist) is like charging a car owner- for %u201CRecklessness, for not verifying the beggar%u2019s antecedents and his possible intentions%u201D- who gives a tenner to a beggar near a traffic signal who in turn uses that ten rupees to buy a knife and kill someone.
2.      Looks like the Australian State wants to keep a leash on Hanif for possible info. It%u2019s not vindictive but then there is also the spirit of law to follow, isn%u2019t it?
3.      Manmohan Singh%u2019s Govt%u2019s reaction is welcome; every Govt., in the world protects its citizens, at least till they are convicted. Since Manmohan after expressing his feelings for the family can not take his foot back he is doing whatever he can!
4.      But why not MEA summon Saudi Arabia%u2019s Ambassador and display the same energy and anxiousness when hundreds of its citizens are put behind the bars and executed by sword in the Middle East and elsewhere?
5.      Manmohan%u2019s premature comments unwittingly translate to as it was said %u201CYES! HE IS A BASTA*D, BUT HE IS OUR BASTA*D!%u201D
