Chinese checkers
by Anurag Shrivastava on Jul 11, 2007 07:50 PM

The Chinese have had a very ambivalent stand on the war on terror being fought against extreme Islamists. It was so far an American war or an Indian war which of course was music to the Chinese ears. The Chinese are no longer "a third world pretender" but a strong ideological power which is powered by atheism, hedonism and capitalism which is anti-thesis of Islam in more ways than even America is. The next century war is all the civilizations against extreme forms of Islamo-fascism and the Chinese will play a huge role in it. Pakistani army is at its cross roads - it comes from same secular ethos of British Army as does the Indian army - and the army has to make those tough choices - embrace Jehadis or impose secularism in Pakistan.
