Pakistan @ cross roads
by Rajendra on Jul 11, 2007 12:10 AM

The incidents of the past week from pakistan are really intriguing. There seems to be a parlel with what happened in golden temple in 1984,the circumstances being similar with the deaths of Bhindrenwala and now Gazi.
Another similarity seems to be that just like Mrs Gandhi who had some backing for the sikh terrrorists, Mr musharaf also patronised terrorists and when they are dispensable both Mrs Gandhi and Musharaf did dispose the one time proteges, like toilet paper.

In India what happened immeadiatly is reinforsement of fundamentalism to histreonic levels and with electoral victories of Mr shimaranjith singh man and beant singh's wife and father in law ,immeadiatly preceded by the assanisation of Mrs Gandhi.
It took nearly 10 years for imbibing revulsion of terrrorisam and once lawless punjab now is mcuh more peaceful than Bihar.
What i wanna say is that though in the short term there maight be some serious consequences of the fall out of operation silence, in the long term considering the experiance of Punjab Pakistan maight also be peaceful and democratic and wealthy notaion in the 2 or 3 decades to come.
But what i donn wanna forsee is the same fate for Musharaf as happened to Indira Gandhi
