A team of Federal Bureau of Investigation, a team of Scotland Yard and German snipers visited the site and left without any breakthrough. No doubt Army claimed to have made an attempt to rescue the tourists; Army launched an operation in Durban village of Amanita on December 4, 1995. The army later described the operation as routine and claimed to have killed the supreme of Al-Faran Hamid Turki, but Turki managed to escape from the village along with tourists. The outfit released a statement that day for the media, stating that tourists were taken away by the army and hence forth owned no responsibility or their safety. Army and Al-Faran accused each other of eliminating the tourists. The outfit had earlier snapped talks with the state police officials who were negotiating with them over wireless sets. The transcripts of these talks were leaked to a news magazine. Immediately after the incident, Al-Faran snapped links with state police. The outfit statement that day said "They are only buying time and we shall not allow them that." Analysts termed the abduction of tourists as conspiracy against what they called freedom struggle of Kashmir. They maintain it was only done to defame the struggle and link it with the terrorism. Renowned columnist and a law teacher in University of Kashmir, while commenting upon the disappearance of tourist said, "It gives a negative image, when there is a disappearance of innocent people. The disappearances of these tourists remains a mystery."ÿ
