I am an assamese and have been in the middle of this conflict ever since I can remember. Now the Movement didn't start out of the blue and due to lesser number of seats in the parliament hence no political significance and constant step motherly treatment from the leaders in Delhi, diverting the regions resources by the then Prime minister Mrs.Indira Gandhi especially diverting Oil to the Barauni refinery in Bihar which we all know has more political significance gave validity to the separatist movement with of course tremendous amount of ground support.
Its a double edged sword and only innocent die. Now If you are not aware, the Army had launched several offensives against the outfit on several occasions absolutely like a war front notably operations like Operation Rhino, bajrang and the latest offensive, it has failed on all occassions to wipe ULFA out but, leaving behind a long trail of human rights violations which are not even looked into as the Army in north east has blanket power under the Armed Forces Special Powers Act.
Now Sovereignty of Assam is a lost cause at this time and age. There is no Ground support for the Movement at the same time the present generation do not find it feasible.
The Army is not the solution as they are not dealing with an Hostile Nation, North Easterners might look different in appearance contrary to a common Indians perception but they are Indians.I don't know if there is a solution nor at the same time I support killing innocent huma
