RE:Save Mumbai
by sarfaraz lakhani on Jul 02, 2007 11:06 AM

Whatever be China's agenda and human development record, we must agree that there is no price on an individual's life. Is human life precious? does the government care for welfare of its citizens? If yes, it would have given highest priority to control crime, ensure development before there is a need. Its police force would have been stronger to protect its citizens and not become gulible to taking bribe to circumvent rules. A huge number of people die or lose their lives due to floods, epidemics, crime, women lose their modesty - why because the government is not proactive. It is not even reactive- they know that every one will take care of themselves. Corruption can be controlled- if the election commission can show the way, why can't other legislative offices and ministries control the situation. The root cause somehow lies with all of us. Should we not take action against the government of depriving us of minimum facilities- I live in Mumbai and if you look at the streets, or the railway bridges - water accumulates every where, the tiles that are being put up- by what standard have they been evaluated for completion- which corrupt officer gives the contractor completion certificate and clears their bill - I am concerned at the safety standards on the roads, the width of the footpath is decreasing-motorists are driving like crazy and creating traffic jams by lane cutting just to go one car ahead.Just by lack of commitment to enforce law and order, things are going haywire
