The two sides of, the Economy, coin
by on Feb 01, 2007 03:37 PM

The president's speeach is an inspiring and motivating one. Our country should be prosperous and strong amid the comity of nations. This comes out only when the hard work of our people channelled in unified manner. We are like actors on the stage where everybody has to perform his/her role to get a successful performance. It should be fulfilling for the audience and the actors.

In India, at present, the economy coin has two sides, on one side we see lot of scientific and technological, and economic growth is taking place and on the other and mass of our population is downtrodden. This is due to people who are fortunate enough to get access to educational system and business/trade where their incomes are far far more than daily labourers/farmers/petty hawkers.we have islands of prosperity and ocean of poverty. This contrast has to be seen in proper perspective for quick remidial action. Unless the mass is uplifted quickly in good quantum, our progress would be patchy. Hence, the corrective measures which are in position have to be upgraded and progress monitored very closely so as to get the expected results. The resources have to allocated in good quantum for ant-povery schemes and targetted to the correct people. The trickling down and percolation effect is not taking place in required quantity. We have world renounded Economists in India. we have to take their wisdom in devising the our policies, stratagies and delivery systems so as to have correct match between what is required and what is actually delivered in the field. It said by the great Tamil Poet and saint THIRUVALLUVAR in his THIRUKKURAL on poverty that:
" Every morning opens with the blighting thought of the struggle for existence that must again be faced ".
meaning--I managed to survive yesterday. Has another day begun and must I go through it again? These are the words of the unfortunate man to whom the new day means going through the dreaded trials of yeterday.

In essence, our masses' "hand to mouth exixtence" has to be completely eliminated and their standard of living and the quality of life has to be improved manifold.
This is a challenge for us as it was getting county's Independence. We believe that we would achieve this, but the question is how quick?
