RE:PUNJAB ELECTIONS
by on Mar 02, 2007 07:06 PM

Prof Gulraj Singh Khalsa
Its a pity that a party(BJP)which was completely irrelevant and had no base in punjab before '97 has become relevant today. The success of the BJP this time is attributed to the complete support of the Akali workers, which the Akalis did not get this time, especially in the malwa region. This result is alarmingly dangerous. It clearly describes the polarisation of the punjabi public. From the outside, everything seems ok,But from the inside, the schism between the sikhs and hindus has become clear cut as has been shown by a detailed analysis of the elections in punjab.
