The news item mentions that the boats did not have the required license. This implies that a system of licensing does exists. The issue here is, and it will be a fitting tribute to the children who lost their lives, to examine the system and book the persons responsbile for not examing the boat or not stopping it for wilful murder. The incident should be taken as a grim reminder that the governance is all about ensuring saftey of the citizens of the country, and the children were the citizens of our country. Questions should be asked from the forest department and the officials of the bird sanctuary when was the last time the boats were examined, how come a boat without license was operating in the reservoir-who is responsible to ensure this. Until and unless we create pressure on the system to operate and fulifill its resposnibilities the tragedies like thisd will happen and we will refuse to learn from such mistakes.
