I am a South Indian with "North Indian Sur" name, our family tree has a North Indian Sur name. I was searching for my roots for many years to know more about my "North Indian Sur" name. My elders had told me that my fore fathers escaped to South during Aurangzeb rule to remain as Bhramin, rather than being forcefully converted to Islam.
