PLEASURE ( MUTA) MARRIAGES IN ISLAM



In Islam , in addition to four wives & unlimited captured/purchased slaves,

muslim men can also enter into temporary marriages called MUTA (pleasure)

marriages purely for sexual indulgence.

The duration can range from a quarter hour to few months .



Sahih al-Bukhari,part 7,page 37

"While we were in the army, Allah%u2019s Apostle came to us and said, %u2018You have been allowed to have pleasure (Muta), so do it.%u2019 If a man and a woman agree to marry temporarily, their marriage should last for three nights, and if they want to continue, they may do so."

1.This marriage is carried out without a witness

2. The period of this marriage could be a quarter of an hour, or a day, or any period of time

3. it is permissible for a man to have collectively an unaccountable number of women at the same time

4. The woman may not inherit her husband%u2019s possessions, and a man does not give alimony to the spouse

5. Divorce is also carried out without a witness

6. This marriage is nothing but a license to practice sex provided that the woman is not married to another man

Nikah-al-Muta (marriage of pleasure) means temporary marriage for a limited period of time. This type of marriage was allowed in the early days of Islam
