Aurangzeb-the original terrorist
by arun bahuguna on Feb 17, 2007 04:12 PM

Hats off to u Monsiur Gautier for reminding Indians especially Hindus among them that they too should finally know what is self respect and pride as a nation like any other normal people in the world. Forget about history and geography ...why please ...why please in the name of God ...why has our Government named a street in Delhi after Aurangzeb. There is even a Aurangzeb Lane too to service that. True Britishers had done that ...but that was before 1947. My dear now u r independent..does a Gautier have to remind u about that. What r u afraid of about changing these two eyesores of a name? Who will oppose u..which country will go to war against if u change this name? Even my so many Muslim friends donot like to name their kids after Aurangzeb. How many persons do find bearing ths name in our society...hardly any.... whereas Akbars and Salims are galore.
Shame on BJp, the so called Hindu party...even they did not think of this small national and secular task. But Congress must do it if they consider Aurangzeb as communal and Akbar and Dara Shikoh as secular which is the thought of every true Indian as well.
Gautier said no street in Europe is named after Hitler. But what a shame ...in independent India ,in the capital, at that, evey Indian is made to pay obeisance to a tyrant and anti Hindu king every time he or she passes Aurangzeb Road or Aurangzeb Lane.
I remember wha furore was raised when afellow named his eatery after Hitler ,in Mumbai. He was forced to withdraw it even though Jews are not even a miniscule minority in India. And here u have 80% of India's population who call themselves Hindus silenntly acquiescing to naming of a very important place of capital of India after the greatest tyrant in medieval India who not only killed millions of Hindus but thosands of Muslims as well .Wah re Hindustan!
Bengalis rename Calcutta, Marathis rename Bombay, Tamils rename Madras. But where r these political parties when it is the q. of renaming Aurangzeb road?
May I appeal to President Kalam, through these columns,on behalf of all Indians to make this Histoical correction urgently and restore national pride and self respect? Jai Hind.
