Auranzeb spent his last 3-4 years in Ahmednagar in Maharashtra , as a coward hiding from the Marathas, who were attacking and slaughtering his army .
so feared were the Marathas ,that whenever mughal horses refused to drink water from ponds, Mughals used to think that the horses had seen the reflection of Marathas in the water.
Marathas harrassed him and his army , sometimes attacking him head-on, sometimes using guerilla warfare.
auranzeb had come to Deccan to conquer Marathas,but Marathas eventually conquered him.
he died in khultabad literally like a beggar.
His unmarried favorite daughter was buried next to him.
after he died ,Marathas installed his son as a puppet ruler in delhi and ruled 60% of india, Rajputs won back Rajasthan, Sikhs won back Punjab and parts of Afghanistan.Jats won Haryana. Evil persisted only in Hyderabad , Mysore and Junagadh.
aurnazeb controlled 80% of india when he lived,within a few years of his death, hindus ruled 80% of india.
Auranzebs death heralded the end of muslim rule in most of india.

" Budala Aurangya Paapi , Hindustan Balavle"
It means:
" Aurangya the sinner is dead , hindusthan is now stronger"
