I agree that the reason should be investigated. The thing is it has to do with years upon years of not enforcing a uniform civil code in India, so the solution is not that easy. One classic example of the law NOT being equal to all is why Muslims can get away with certain practices, claiming religious reasons, when other communities cannot. In a true democracy, civil law should have precedence over religious edicts and beliefs. I would go further back and say that the law has to be amended, and we have to have a uniform civil code, for the benefit of all of us.
