If you go back in history, you'll see that accidents and mishaps tend to happen. Aviation accidents tend to stay in memory longer because they are so rare and look spectacular. The Flight safety committee always looks to improve safety and better operations. In response to all these comments criticising HAL, where were these people when HAL's Dhruv was applauded at Aero India 2005 and customers like Chile,Bhutan and the IAF were queuing up to buy ALHs..? Similarly, the IJT has the distinction of achieving the fastest time from sheet metal cutting to full product demonstrator in just 18 months, so why are people downing HAL..? If you look back, and do that correctly, even Boeing, Airbus and NASA aren't exceptions. Being in the aviation community, I have seen plenty of knee-jerk reactions without a proper understanding of the efforts that go into making an airplane. Rather than HAL-bashing, we should be supporting it in this time of gloom.
