Lets be more responsible ...
by on Feb 06, 2007 12:12 PM

Just two points :
1) As educated people, we need to be responsible in our thoughts , words and actions. Abusing somebody or some class or some state etc shows us in very poor light.

2) As far as the tribunal order is concerned, we need to be aware that this has come from a team of well learned people who have pored through volumes of data and heard several specialists in irrigation from all the states concerned, who have deliberated on the issue for years and have passed a verdict. A clearer reading of the verdict will show that in essential the status quo has been maintained to a large extent and Karnataka would need to relase 192 TMC water ( as against the interim order of 205 TMC ). As far as the allocation of share of water is concerned, the right of a lower ripirian state to a larger share of water is not unique - but a universal phenomenon. To that extent, the decision is a balanced decision. Lets stop politicising this.

As a country, we are progressing. Let us not damage the enormous progress by being reckless and regressive.
