I am also a Tamil and I disagree with the observations of S Ragunathan. Both Tamils and Kannadigas are very tolerant people. (Remember MGR, a malayalee could become CM, Rajanikanth, practically a Kannadiga, is a superstar there and could someday become CM. Similarly, Masthi Venkatesha Iyengar and TP Kailasam, renowned Kannada authors, Ramesh Arvind, popular actor, are all Tamils). The fact is the people are mostly tolerant and friendly. It is a small group of rabble-rousers who vitiate the atmosphere by fueling dormant linguistic hatred. These small groups (whether they are Tamil or Kannada) should be dealt with firmly so that the people who are basically friendly could live peacefully together.

Another thing. Lets not forget that Tamils and Kannadigas have each contributed to the development of each other's states over centuries. The present order of the Tribunal is a small modification in favor of TN not at all substantially benefiting TN or substantially to the detriment of KRN. As educated people, it is our duty not to get carried away at this juncture and to see that sanity and sobriety prevail.

Remember, we are all Indians.
