I personally am not a supporter of Shiv Sena, but I do agree with the "Lesser Evil" line of thought. I would definately rate Shive Sena higher than a Congress or NCP. When they first came to power in the state in 1995, they were the oneswho built those hige number of flyovers in the city. There are people who criticize them saying they got huge kickbacks, but I would say who wouldnt? Atleast it saves me a lot of time and effort driving on those. Imagine Mumbai without them today. Congress is blaming Shiv Sena for 26/7 deluge. Shiv Sena has been ruling the BMC for past 10 years, why did this happen only this time? The major reason was illegal slums and unchecked encroachments along the areas that attributed to the rise in flood levels. Who gets these people to flock from outside states? Congress ofcourse to increase their vote banks. How else can one explain the entry of Northie craps like SP and BSP who have litreally destroyed UP and are hell bent on making Mumbai another UP. I personally am against outsiders comming to Mumbai at this stage, not because I am a racist but because the fact is that Mumbai is already overloaded and stressed out and it cannot accomodate any new entrants. When the people from other states flock Mumbai, they set up huts and homes and add on to already huge huge population of slums. 60% of Mumbai's population lives in slums. Where have these people come from? Hardly 30% of them are from Maharshtra. Rest all, outsiders. Where is the space for newcomers? Where is Shiv Sena wrong in sayng that Mumbai cannot accomodate any new migratn? After 26/7 I have personally seen Shiv Sena workers and Corporators work for the betterment of situation at ground level and as far as I know, they did not difefrentiate between Hindus and Muslims. There is lot of misconception amongst people regarding Shiv Sena. I am not saying they are the best, just thatr they are lesser evil than the others.
