Myth and Reality

Fonseka is a good General and as such realizes that such statements are a must to win wars. But as a good General he must also know nothing is more dangerous than to believe one's own PR statements.
The world's most powerful military force is bogged down in Afghanistan and Iraq fighting forces that similar in nature to those the Sri Lankan army is fighting. Similar claims on time frames stand proven highly exaggerated.
Yes the LTTE is on its back foot and is taking some amount of pounding. But considering that it would be wiped out in six months is a pipe dream.
LTTE's dreams are obviously stupid and ill conceived. The creation of small independent Eelam is unworkable and forthright unviable. And if that does happen it will in the long run be dangerous for India since it may create fissiparous trends even within South India.
Hopefully with the LTTE realizing that they stand little chance of giving a decent fight to the Srilankan army, they may return to the negotiating table - minus Prabakaran.
