The old testament gave 3 sets of laws 1. Moral laws - STILL BINDING... Sorry... I accept that there are rotten apples and hypocrits in every religion) 2. Ceremonial laws such as worship rituals - NOT BINDING as Jesus fulfilled the law. 3. Dietary laws - Not binding Jesus Himself freed us from it as He fulfilled the law for us.
The reason God gave these laws - 1. Man kind to know his own sinful nature 2. The high standard of holiness needed to be acceptable in God's eye. 3. To be like a teacher to lead us to accep Gods free offer of salvation since Jesus shed His own blood to pay for our sins as we can never ever pay pay for it.
Only an infinite God Himself can save infinite number of humans Only a human can die a substitutionary death for another human. So God had to become a human.
