About Christianity and missionaries
by Dheeraj Akula on Dec 27, 2007 05:50 PM

Desmond Tutu, Nobel Peace Prize winner:

(1) When the missionaries came to Africa they had the Bible and we had the land. They said "Let us pray." We closed our eyes. When we opened them, we had the Bible and they had the land.

As quoted in "Desmond Tutu: A Biography" (2004) by Steven Gish, p. 101

(2) I give great thanks to God that he has created a Dalai Lama. Do you really think, as some have argued, that God will be saying: "You know, that guy, the Dalai Lama, is not bad. What a pity he's not a Christian"? I don't think that is the case - because, you see, God is not a Christian.
