Why Modi appeals to Hindus
by Fried Yakov on Dec 24, 2007 08:41 PM

I wish Mr. Raman had written this article eons ago. Yes Mr. Modi has brought back the pride in being a Hindu rather than cowering to the brute force of Islam or the lure of the lucre of Xtianity. Hinduism is probably the world's oldest surving faith which has withstood the severe trials of brute force. It should not be apologetic to say one is a Hindu- it should be a matter of pride to say so, because it implies the strength of haracter of ones forefathers some of which must have passed on to the present generation, because those worthy ancestors were able to resist the brute force of the state power in medieval Islamic India and stick to their own believes rather than convert just to save heir lives. No wonder Hindus today excel in more fields than do the converts (of their are notable exceptions). It would be better that all present generation specially Muslim and Christian Indians realise that most if not all of their ancestors were forced to convert to a religion either by threat of death or by dangling the carrot of prosperity and now they themselves are in a position to right those monumental wrongs done to their forefathers. If they have an iota of self respect and some mettle in the genes that have been passed on to them over generations, thay will know what to do.
