Very good analysis Mr Raman. You have correctly picked up the reasons which were beneath the surface. Hindus (not only Gujrathis) wanted an identity and they are identifying themselves in Modi. Congress did employ an army of psuedo-secularists (read modi-abusers) led by none other than Sonia. But the more they abused him, more did he go on consolidating the votes and sympathy of Hindus. Hindus have been watching Congress compromising on India's security by taking a soft stand on Islami terrorism and even scrapping measures taken by the earstwhile BJP Govt to weed out terrorists, scrapping POTA, taking measures to cater to Muslim vote bank (adopting measures like Sachchar Committee reports etc), turning a Nelson's eye to flooding of Bengal and Assam by Bangladeshis, showing lack of guts in not hanging terrorists evenif they are convicted by Supreme Court. At the same time, they always pretended that it is the Hindutva which one should be worried about and not the Islami terrosrism.While talking about Islami terrorists, they never forget to equal Hindutva in the same breath. Hindus were wathching all these and the simmering anger was idolised in form of Modi. Modi spoke their 'Dil Ki Baat'.
I think Sonia & Co. will keep up the good work until next Loksabha elections.
