It is not just that the communalism and hindu card has won. A hindu card will not help you for 5 long years. This is clearly the vote of the people (look there was very high motivated voting) - To some it may be a pro-hindu voting but to most of the urban and commoner it is voting for development and progress. Modi has to take the credit for smallest mantri mandal. He has to take credit for not appointing all the persons on various posts of chairman of various boards and nigam's. He means business. Though we cannot forgive him for the lawlessness of 2002, it is clearly not the same effect in this election. The development of infrastructure (roads, water, narmada), electricity (GEB is now a profit making unit with funds to invest in putting up additional capacity to meet ever growing demand of electricity) has been the achievement.
What would congress do after coming to power? No good leader in sight. Promises to farmers to take back all the power theft cases (170000) - put the cycle in backward motion. Carry a huge mantri mandal - no committment for good law and order and reducing of corruption.
I do believe that for any state to make progress, law and order, respect to private property and advancment of the most efficient, is of prime importance. It is more imporatant than huge minerals resevers (gulf execption), fertile land or large reserviors of water - everything is useless if there is huge corruption, inefficiency in the system.
