I agree on the point by Rajeev but I would like to add....Democracy in India keeps surviving because majority of Indian population lives in villages and major Indian policies (on papers) are made keeping this class in mind. The Indian farmers are most depressed lot, they face numerous problems including electricity, water, seeds, fertilizer almost everything. They are busy solving their problems and they have least time looking at the corruption and all dirty tricks of officials and polititians. Policies are announced in their favour. But actual benefit goes to the policy makers and those having responsibility of implementing. The clout of these two sections get support of few hundred families which is getting richer day by day. The poor goes poorer and rich goes richer. The majority of poor people have no guts, time to raise a voice. Hence democracy survives. The political parties like Communists project themselves as MASSIAH of poor but actually they sell the dead bodies of poor as seen in NANDIGRAM. Poor dies as in maharashtra, Tilangana, Bidarbha, Chambal region, Bundelkhand but nobody bother after all rich people gets richer, Polititians and Babus get another chance to make policies and benefit from them...Middle class is busy adjusting between Lower and higher calss, they have no time to protest so the democaracy survives....
