Agree with most points...

...except one: that the continuance of democracy in India is dependent on deomcracy flourishing in the neighbourhood too. After all, India has been the only reasonably true democracy in this region for over six decades now.

After emerging from mediaevalism, India is perhaps one of the few inherently democratic countries in the world, owing to the freedom to question guaranteed to every individual historically in this land. I'm not saying we were had guaranteed perfect equality and freedom in the past, but, as Vivekananda said, with all our faults, we were head and shoulders above any other country in that regard.
