RE:Marath Leaders

Well all is fair in war. A tyrant like Aurangzeb could not have deserved better. But I think Aurangzeb died after Shivaji had passed away. Shivaji died young at 52, thereafter Aurangzeb, captured his successor Sambhaji Raje and had him ruthlessly murdered when Sambhaji refused to convert to Islam...his skin was peeled off and smeared with salt, he was subjected to multiple torture before being beheaded and his body hacked into pieces, bundled into a jute bag that was paraded through the streets of Delhi by harnessing it to a donkey.

As far as defeating Aurangzeb is concerned, it must be remembered that Shivaji had a small army as compared to that of Aurangzeb which was also replenished by the foot soldiers of the Rajputs who continuously pledged allegiance to the Mughals. Mirza Raje Jaising was one such great Rajput who despite Shivaji's earnest appeal to ally with him to overthrow the Mughals did not respond. Shivaji had to resort to guerilla tactics to protect the Deccan from the invasion of the ruthless Muslim kings comprising the Mughals, the Nizamshah of Ahmednagar, Adilshah of Bijapur, and Kutubshah of Golconda. Let us also not forget Siddi Jouhar of Janjira.

It's always too little howsoever you write on the courage and valour of Shivaji and few people understand it! Victory be to Shivaji, Victory to Mother Bhavani!!
