Correct me if the Bible is wrong, but didn't Jesus send his people out to be his witnesses to the world (See Acts 1:8), not his converts. Only he (Jesus, through the Holy Spirit) can do the 'converting'because he did the choosing! (see Ephesians 1:4-9) But, he did send his people out, so the church (sinners saved by God's grace) have a purpose in preaching the good news and loving others as if they were their own. They get it wrong, and I am not in any way condoning the deception mentioned in the Rediff interviews - on the contrary, it grieves me. However, Christ has sent his people to serve, proclaim his death and resurrection and disciple believers.
It is true that some are 'converted' through wordly means, but this is not true conversion. Once again, we won't know whether others are truly converted until God brings '...all things in heaven and earth together under one head, even Christ.' Ephesians 1:10
Dalits may come to know Christ, or they may come to know acceptance. What will show their true conversion, is when they come to know Christ's acceptance. If someone changes allegiances (from a religion to Christianity)then that is their choice, and paradoxically, also God's.
