Horses for courses!
by vivek tandon on Dec 12, 2007 07:11 AM

I sympathise with the families and friends of the bereaved and injured.

However, one needs to have perspective. If a structure is not designed for a certain load, you cannnot expect it to take that load.

Even in your own hose/flat. you need to be careful about what you load and where. For example, you cannot get a heavy 'Safe' and place it anywhere you like at home.

It is not just about buildings. Just because trucks are made for carting stuff - you see so many overloaded trucks on highways - causing accidents.

The same goes for development - Bangalore is not equipped with adequate infrastructure to handle the number of people migrating in to bangalore. Everything is a chaos - Water systems, sewage syatems, schooling capacities, public transport, roads, power....and politics.

See this incident in its perspective. Bangalore reaaly needs to wake up before its too late.
