FYI - I am not defending Thiru. Karunanidhi or DMK although I have great respect for both. Political compulsions and personal ambition dictate course of action. I generally deplore the state of TN politics as it is today. But, I defend the dravidian movement. The movement was necessary to liberate the non-brahmin masses from the stranglehold of the brahmins and give the non-brahmins a distinct political,cultural, social and religious identity. What I hate is people using Karunanidhi or DMK or some other politician to disparage the Dravidian movement as a whole. There have been countless Dravidianists who have worked selflessly to promote Thamizh and defend Dravidian civilization and culture. WE MUST NEVER FORGET THAT! Aringar Anna gave us the wonderful motto - Kadamai, Kanniyam, Kattupadu - Duty, Honory and Discipline. I wish the current crop of Dravidian politicans follow these principles. Alas, many of them don't. That is just human weakness. But, the movement as a whole is not to blame. It was a noble and necessary movement. And as long as there are committed and devoted people left to carry on the mantle the movement will continue. Dravidam vAzhga. Dravidan inam valarga. Parppaneeyam adiyodu verodu ozhiga.
