The Modi game plan
by PKN on Dec 06, 2007 12:03 AM

Modi has deftly shifted from the development plank to the Hinduvata or Modivata plank. The urge to damn Modi would be, understandably, very strong among those professing to be the guardians of secularism.
But the windfall for Modi would lie in the manner in which his opponents would damn him.
A Supreme Court lawyer Bhushan on the NDTV claimed that Modi was responsible for killing an innocent man. Sohrabuddin an 'innocent man' was a terror suspect wanted in 4 states.
Manu Sanghvi referred to Sohrabuddin, as 'Sohrabuddin bhai'. If that is an apt manner of addressing a man with known terror links why is this suave Congress spokesperson not referring to Tiger memon as 'Tiger Bhai%u2019?
The same Congress spoke person believes that Modi should be tried in an International Court of Justice without explaining why Congress men who killed three times the number of Sikhs in 1984 were not sent to such an august international court of Law.
No sensible person will accept that, what Modi said or implied was justifiable. As a civilized nation we must ensure that even a terrorist must be punished only by due process of law.
Sadly by a lopsided attack on Modi's stand the Congress has emerged as being anti-Hindu. And that was what Modi really wanted more than support he got from the crowds that listened to him.
