Nationalism and Patriotism does not justify use of executive powers bestowed by people to subvert the law and ORDER of the country. The ORDER is the police to arrest and the courts to trial and judge. If the law and order fails, it is not on the onus of citizens to become proxy judges. Law and order is complex and justice is not as simple as pronouncing 'guilty' or 'not-guilty' by virtue of face value of incidents. Shohrab should have been tried and hanged and the Chief Minister should have used all within his powers to ensure the prosecution is fool proof. But bypassing the law, he created a monster out of himself, which may appeal to some in the short run, but will have the eventuality of any dictator.
Religions are by birth and mostly not a choice- by practice. Hence to hold moral high for one practice is a flaw in intself as it places the least importance of the individual who practices it.
Modi is treading on dangerous grounds and he is jeopardizing the nation's image and accountability in no uncertain terms. If you find Narendra Modi great today, wait for the day when you will be shamed by the downfall of such regimes and policies- as is inevitable with all such 'above the law' people.
