you are mistaken if you feel that there were no communal riots or trouble in gujarat before 1992.
there were riots in 1946, 1969, 1981, 1985 and that was before anyone knew of modi.
only difference is that in earlier riots, muslims would get aggressive, there would be trouble, police would intervene, fire at mobs and there would be uneasy calm for a few days and then, people would forget it and keep boiling.
in 2002, when train was burnt, people were angry, very very angry...you have to see the crowds to know it.
sitting outside at some remote place, you cannot feel it. you have to be inside the crowd to see how it was boiling.
modi was just an instrument, the fuel was already there and the train burning provided the spark.
i do not mean to say that what happened afterwards is justifiable. but just condemning riots is not going to stop it.
a more rational solution would be to go into the root causes of the trouble and the issue is painful for both hindus and muslims.
