No Historical Truth
by veerapandian on Aug 31, 2007 06:26 PM

Rameshwaram may be one of the much venerated place .But it is a fact that the Saivite Nayanmars who lived from 6th to 8th century AD who covered all the Siva temples by singing Bhakthi songs in TN didn't mention Rameshwaram Temple even in one song. This temple became famous only later after the Tulsi Ramayanam which was written later than Nayanmar period.
Neither the historically very significant Tamil Sangam Literature mention about the Temple or the Bridge(!).The singalese history chronicle 'Mahavamsa' which traces about 2000 years of SriLanka's history also did n't mention .
