Thats why we stress that you need to read and understand the context and circumstances under which it was delivered to the prophet (PBUH).
Even with Alcohol, Allah made prohibited it gradually...So that it was easier for the society to adjust.
One more suggestion...on the topic of reservation we need a plan to get rid of it in phases...reducing of 20% every 5 years or a reduction of 4-5 % every year...so that after 20-25 years there is no reservation.
