QandA, I totally agree with your line of thinking and here are some suggestions,
- Have achievable goals and define areas where you can have an influence (Country is too big.Need to start with Society/Colony) - Set up a group, a watch dog group, for your local Police station. Make sure that there will be no bribes taken/given in your area - Do that same with all government institutes (Passport, Drivers license, Ration, etc) - Insist on safety and cleaniness - Summon your local MLA/MP/Corporator for local issues
Having said this, we need to understand the underlying problem. It is the Government. I am not saying that the Government is creating problems, but no matter how efficient and honest the government, it is not the right institute to solve these problems
As an example, Water supply. It is practically free in the some areas and some areas hardly get any. There is rampant corruption. Corruption and discrimination is a fabric of Government. No country is an exception.
Compare that we a private entity Do you pay a bribe to get a cell phone ? Isn't there more accountability in Billing ? Isn't there a better customer support group ? Don't you have different options ? Aren't the prices falling all the time ?
Competion within the private sector is the best way to solve problems and creat jobs. It brings about accountability
So i always say, Reject candidates/parties that want to expand the role of Government. It is the wrong tool to solve our problems
