Is the Left right now ?
by Sanjeev Sharma on Aug 28, 2007 09:40 PM

Usually, the rule of thumb is that anything which Indian communists oppose is good for India. However, things don't look that simple this time. Prime Minister has hidden the deal and details of agreements with public (and even Parliament) as long as possible.
This has led to US and India both interpreting the deal according to convinience. Given that Indian prime minister's assurance to country of retaining soverignity about nuclear testing are negated next day by US spokesperson, it is sure that indian government has got a bad deal, because beurocrats were sent to negotiate ignoring hard nosed politicians.
