Instead, he has been plotting, scheming, wheeling & dealing within the CPI(M) for a long long time now and has finally achieved his life's ambition of becoming its official top honcho with the fading away of its old guard like Surjeet & Basu. Headless Chicken & Chinese Double Agent No. 2: Sitaram Yechuri: One of our homegrown firebrands, who is supposed to have been a political activist during his JNU days.When, after passing out, he discovered that such activism and 'foaming at the mouth' wouldn't do much by way of furthering a career he did the next best thing he could. He inveigled himself into the CPI(M), hung on to the coat-tails of people like Karat who could further his progress within the portals of that questionable & opaque organization, carefully cultivated his image as a maverick ideologue (if you ask him to expand on his ideology though you would soon realize that it is a heap of stinking horse manure) and has finally emerged as the No. 2 honcho in the party, right behind his mentor & benefactor, Comrade Karat.
