RE:Does UPA actually mean United PA..!!
by Sankar Mitra on Aug 20, 2007 08:51 PM

As of now, there is no deal. What happens now if we conduct a nuclear test? The US will dictate other powers and the countries belonging to NSG, to impose sanctions. We may shout like you, "who are they". Fact remains, they are America, the only super power of todays world. But why they want to give us civil nuclear freedom? What is their interest? Are they not making our arms strong and give us more capability? Their interest is our friendship, which has become very important due to China's growing might. If the deal goes through and after that we conduct a test, US will surely make a lot of noise, but won't decide to loose India's friendship. This friendship will surely have some restrictions in deciding our independant foreign policy. But if you want to get something, you have to give something. There is no free lunch in this world. When America went full blast to revive China's economy, China also had to pay some price. But after attaining the status of today, China cannot be dictated. Same is going to happen to us as well.
Regards
