N-deal ...a step towards self reliance
by abhishek shrivastava on Aug 20, 2007 08:27 PM

India has reached the current status only because of the touch of capitalism (thankfully) and not because of self reliance.
If one tries to get everything by itself , then its like moving from stone age to modern age everyday. In this world where resources are limited, no country can have everything by itself unless it occupies the whole world. Russia which had the largest reservoir's of almost everything failed because of the belief to have everything(thats what reagan policy led it too). If one has to grow, it needs resources, capability, technology and needs to adopt whatever damn idealogy exisiting anywhere in the world. If one misnomers self reliance with anti-US policy then that would be the greatest foolishness world have ever seen. Not only anti-US , anti-china or anti-paki or anti-bangladesh or anti-South africa. Self reliance is acheived by help of others and not by isolation. Self reliance propels the individual to learn and grow with help of others. Only things that India shud be careful of is lack of self confidence and self belief which is the greatest hindrance in self reliance. Opposition to N-deal shows that hindrance which cud be disaster for India's ambitions. If India gets into the deal...this shows how confident and secure India feels for its policies and action.
