The great economist did not raise the IT exemption limits by even a thousand rupees - he did not even adjust the natural inflation in IT exemption levels. An across the board service tax of 12.5% is breaking the back of every bill paid by the consumers. What did they do with all this money? They gave an employment guarantee scheme where money is paid to supposed rural labor without doing any work. SEZs are sold by the basketful. Gas cylinders which were in excess supply during NDA rule, suddenly went into the classic shortage regime of the 1970s. Mind you, I am not an NDA voter.
