Is India allowed to to carry out nuclear tests now? Answer is NO. After the last tests, sanctions were imposed on India and that still continues. 123 agreement does not include military angle; it is only for civilian purposes. After signing the agreement, if India blasts a nuclear device, rest assured, hell will break loose and again there will be calls for sanctions etc. But till that time, India is in a position to build up power generation capacity as much as we want with independance for reprcessing the spent fuel. This is our main interest in the deal. For a moment, let us ask the question,"What is America's interest"? Their interest is to get India's friendship and to gang up against China, if need be in future. In crude terms, the Us expects that India shall carry out the Anglo-Saxon legacy in this part of the world. If one wants to get something, he has to give something. We surely will be required to give away some independance in our foreign policy mainly with regards to Iran. If for enhancing our self interest, we have to sacrifice Iran's interest to some extent, so let it be. Politics is not morality. During the Chinese aggression, the marxists went to the rediculus extent of coming out with the slogan, "China's Chairman is our Chairman". In reply to that nobody will shout, "America's President is our President". But we must have faith in Indian nation. If we can become one of the largest conomy, we can tackle US pressure as well.
