there is a vast difference between mentalities between bengalis from West bengal and those bengalis who have been forced to migrate from bangladesh. The total population of hindus in Bangladesh was around 42% in 1947 which has been reduces to 7%.As most of these bengalis have have been forced to migrate to north eastern states and west bengal by the muslim fanatics of bangladesh.Since the bengalis from bangladesh have faced humiliating behavior from bangladeshi fanatics. They are more pro congress or pro- BJP.Congress had done blunders in late sixties and early seventies in west bengal and they were behaving like dictators and at that time communists became more active and they did some great ground networking.people voluntraly recruited themselves to become comrades.Almost every bengali was an communist at that time.It was an mass wave.Communists at that time were like saints, and initially they actually implemented communists or marxist idealogy.Calcutta is the cheapest city to live in India. At Rs 2000/month one can sustain a family of four members in calcutta.everything is so cheap there as compared to rest of world.
