Reservations were designed to last only for a period of ten years. But now the politicians seem ready to perpetuate them forever to appeal to their vote banks. Now retrograde & self serving politicians like Meira Kumar, Ram Vilas Paswan & the lousy Communists want to have them extended to the private sector. Nobody seems ready to look into the basic question as to the efficiency of reservations as a tool for the upliftment of the backward sections of the society. If after 60 years of independence the Govt. of India has been unable to uplift these segments of the society, then the price of that failure cannot be paid by the people of India. Reservations should be based on economic criteria rather than caste. Else we will have the ridiculous situation whereby the progeny of Ram Vilas Paswan, Meira Kumar, Sharad Yadav etc claiming reservations when their parents have amassed ill gotten wealth by looting the public exchequer. Government needs to ensure free, compulsory & quality education for all the children of India till Class 12.
The Govt. of India deducts education cess from the hard working honest tax payers of India. It should answer as to how this money has been used by the HRD ministry under the idiotic & brain dead Arjun Singh.
