RE:RE:Approach to Improve the Political System in INDIA
by David Johnson on Aug 05, 2007 11:07 AM

people from all walks of life, for e.g. corporates will like a member of their fraternity to be Commerce Minister, it should be entirely possible with %u2018lawful%u2019 donations and candidate%u2019s suitability. Money in the form of %u2018lawful%u2019 donations is important for the party to remain afloat. Some farmers lobby in rural areas will like Agriculture Ministry to be given to their representative so that he understands %u2018Their%u2019 problems. This should be entirely possible by reserving such ministries to appropriate groups or lobbies representatives.
Career politician will have to make a stronger base before they become ministers. Recruitment of criminals will not happen because the Party will have strict recruitment policies which enforce %u2018background checks%u2019. Some influential local leaders will prefer not to join these mega parties but then they run the risk of being an individual in the all-powerful senate which belongs to major parties. This will induce them and their electorates to be part of the larger system, if they want representation. Horse-trading will not be allowed because these alliances will have to be developed much before elections.
The recruitment of candidates will be for a limited term only hence fresh blood will be allowed to flow in to the system regularly.

Conclusion: By re-energizing the decades old political system in India , we can give the power in the hands of people who can make a difference to lives of Indians and take our country to the next frontier
